Terms of Use
These terms govern your use of this website. By using the site, you agree to them.

About this website
This website is operated by Northumberland Fisheries Museum, a registered charity and not-for-profit community museum at 21 Caladh Avenue, Pictou, Nova Scotia. It exists to describe the Museum and the Lighthouse Research & Interpretative Centre, to share our news and articles, and to let you plan a visit or get in touch with us.
The site is informational. Using it does not create a contract between us.
Information, hours and admission
We work to keep the information on this site accurate and current, but we do not guarantee that it is complete, accurate or up to date at any given moment.
The Museum is seasonal and our opening hours change through the year. Please check with us before travelling — particularly outside the summer season, when we are open by appointment. Membership rates and any published prices are subject to change without notice.
Tickets, memberships and donations
Admission tickets, memberships and donations are handled on a separate checkout website operated by Square. Those transactions are subject to Square’s own terms and privacy policy, and we do not receive or store your payment card details.
Booking the community room
A request submitted through this site is a request only, not a confirmed booking. A booking exists once we have confirmed the details with you directly.
Visiting the Museum
While visiting, please follow any instructions given by our staff. Nothing on this website constitutes professional, safety or legal advice.
Listings of other businesses in Pictou are provided as a courtesy to visitors. We do not operate, endorse or take responsibility for them, and you should confirm their hours and availability with them directly.
Acceptable use
You agree not to use this site in any way that is unlawful, or that could damage, disable, overburden or impair it, or interfere with anyone else's use of it. You agree not to attempt to gain access to any part of the site, or to any system or data, that is not intentionally made available to you.
You agree not to use the contact form to send unsolicited advertising, or to submit content that is unlawful, defamatory, or infringes anyone's rights.

If you send us a message, photographs or other material, you confirm that you have the right to do so. You keep ownership of what you send. You grant us permission to use it for the purpose of responding to you and providing our services. We handle personal information as described in our privacy statement.

Limitation of liability

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot be limited or excluded under the law of Nova Scotia.
This section concerns your use of the website. It does not limit our obligations under any contract for services.
